What's with the name: ICE INTERIOR DESIGN?

Well, the cool-factor is just a coincidence. Ice Interior Design LLC was founded by Karen Ice-Burris in 2007, after a couple years of working 60 & 80-hour weeks for a local Interior Design firm here in Austin, TX.

Desperate to be home raising her two young boys, while still engaging in the field of Design at her own pace, the family downsized and Ice Interior Design was born.

LEADERSHIP

Our firm is led by Karen Ice-Burris, here in busy, growing, awesome, ATX! We office in the Lake Travis area, with our warehouse located in Cedar Park.

Like most professionals, this craft begins with a Degree (Bachelor of Science in Interior Design). Karen maintains a membership with the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).

What began as a single Designer has grown into a full-service Austin design firm. We’ve happily developed our niche here in Central Texas with a talented support team, dedicated receiving and warehouse capabilities, deep trade relationships and over two decades of experience bringing homes from the first idea through final install.

MEET OUR TEAM

Karen Ice-Burris is a native Texan, award-winning Interior Designer, and founder of Ice Interior Design. With a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and nearly 20 years of experience, her career began designing model homes across the country before she founded Ice in Austin in 2007.

Today, Karen leads full-service residential projects throughout Austin and the Texas Hill Country, bringing expertise that spans custom construction, major renovations, furnishings, and final installation. Her work has been published nationally and recognized with three International Property Awards, including Five-Star Best Private Residence Texas, Best Kitchen Design Texas, and Best Primary Bath Texas.

Karen's approach begins with listening. She believes a designer shouldn't leave a signature look behind, the home should reflect the people who live there. Nearly two decades of experience have taught her to see possibilities others may overlook, transform challenges into elegant solutions, and create from joy rather than urgency. Her role is to bring the experience, creativity, resources, and seasoned judgment to make her clients' vision even better than they imagined while leaving every space unmistakably theirs. Away from design, Karen loves traveling, spending time with her family and two Bernedoodles, escaping to Ireland whenever she can, and learning the art of flamenco.

Andrea Burgmeier brings a fresh perspective, strong technical expertise, and an approachable style to the Ice Interior Design team. An ASID-accredited Interior Designer with a degree in Interior Design and additional CEU training in industry products and materials, Andrea combines a trained eye with a deep understanding of how spaces need to function. Particularly skilled in cabinetry design, Andrea has a talent for space planning, proportion, and creative problem-solving. From kitchens and baths to custom built-ins, she sees opportunities to make every inch work beautifully. A trusted member of the Ice team, Andrea works alongside Karen throughout the design process, bringing another set of trained eyes, fresh ideas, and thoughtful solutions to every project. Outside the studio, Andrea loves time outdoors with family and friends, traveling, great food, and spending time with her Great Pyrenees.

Ethan Burris keeps the Ice warehouse running like clockwork. As our dedicated Warehouse Manager, his cool-headed reliability and attention to detail keep the behind-the-scenes logistics organized, from receiving and inspecting client orders to keeping everything on track for installation day.

Off the clock, Ethan is our resident tech expert, with a passion for gaming, streaming, and all things technology.

Meet Doolin and Laird, our resident Bernedoodles and unofficial experts in livable luxury. Doolin is sweet, sassy, and named after one of Karen's favorite places in Ireland. Laird is the gentle soul of the pair, reserved at first, fiercely loving once you're in. Together, they keep morale high, remind us that performance fabrics matter, and firmly believe every beautifully designed home should still be a place where dogs are allowed on the sofa.
